River Farm Hawkesbury Sauvignon Blanc 2009
This is cracking good sauv with perfect balance – none of that overly acidic, grassiness typical of cheap sauvs you buy from the big retailers.
The grapes for this wine come from the Hawkesbury area in the heart of the Marlborough wine district – an area reputed for its consistently high quality fruit and wines. The vineyard chosen to source the grapes from is a warm site near the Omaka River featuring predominantly alluvial soil.
River Farm Hawkesbury Sauvignon Blanc is a classic, generous Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with aromas and flavours of tropical and citrus fruits and a hint of green herbs, balanced by a good acidity. It is intensely fresh and crisp. Citrus and herbal aromas dominate the bouquet, moving through to tropical and passionfruit flavours with a complex mineral, moreish finish.
Perfect to enjoy with friends, this wine complements even the simplest of foods – in particular fresh salads, seafood, citrus and goat’s cheese.
